Geoffrey Crowe is both a sculpture and a painter. He studied art in Puerto Rico at La Liga de Arte and La Escuela de Artes Plasticas. His first exhibition was in 2004, En Accion, a series of paintings capturing the movement and enthusiasm of children playing soccer.

Mr. Crowe’s impressionistic work of children and adults, most recently musicians, are known for their sense of movement. His painterly approach and grasp of light and shadow is evident in all his work and the Latin influence can be seen in the dramatic use of color.

Where the paintings are based in impressionism his sculptures are abstract with the occasional side of humor seen in his masks and surreal figures. But the emotional response of the viewer is the same, a desire to touch and discover the work.

The same strength of form and line that is found on the canvases drives the sculptures. Combining this strength with the raw earthy finish of the sculptures provides a tactile quality that is intriguing.

Mr. Crowe’s work is defined by its elemental nature and the sense that they were created by nature and influenced by man.

In 2008 after returning from Ireland Mr. Crowe established his studio in Madison Indiana. His work has sold in Puerto Rico, Ireland and the United States.
